Mapping the South Fork Fire in New Mexico

Wildfires near Ruidoso, N.M., have been burning through thousands of acres since Monday morning with zero containment.

The South Fork Fire was spreading just northwest of the Alpine resort town in southern New Mexico, threatening multiple structures and forcing 7,700 people to evacuate. State officials could not immediately identify the cause of the fire.
