According to WSVN, a funeral Mass was celebrated in remembrance of Lucy Fernandez, who died in a boating accident during Labor Day weekend.
On Sunday (September 4), a Florida Keys boat collided with a channel marker, killing the 17-year-old student.
Lucy was one of twelve kids from Our Lady of Lourdes and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart on the boat.
On Monday, her friends and relatives paid their condolences during her burial, recalling her ‘joyful’ attitude.
On Monday, September 12, 2022 friends, relatives, and classmates gathered at the Church of the Epiphany for Lucy Fernandez’s funeral Mass.
The 17-year-old was a senior at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, Florida, a Catholic all-girls high school.
Hundreds of people attended the moving Mass when numerous of Lucy’s friends paid their respects and shared loving memories of her.
“Knowing you have been our biggest blessing,” one of Lucy’s pals stated. All I can say is that I love you, I love you, I love, and we will all always adore you. Anyone who encountered Lucy, even for a little period, was struck by the light within her.”
“She was lovely, happy, and had such a terrific sense of humour,” remarked another Lucy acquaintance. She was flawless.”
